For those fast growing horses: What is needed is a complete diet of course, but fewer calories. I suggest 80% good quality grass hay, 20% Alfalfa, and either no grain,,, or just a handful to make the colt think he had supper just like the other horses.

Be persistent and patient... and you will grow out a stronger, sounder mount.
